A Feltham brownie pack is shutting down because its leader is being forced to retire.

The 7th Feltham Brownies, who meet every Tuesday at the scout hut in Ludlow Road, are disbanding because Barbara Milsom has reached the girl guides retiring age, 65.

Barbara, who lives in Feltham, has led the pack for 23 years and has seen more than 200 girls pass through her care.

The non-contact boxing sessions were set up in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour by giving youngsters something to do during the school holidays.

The 28 participants were taught fitness and self-defence techniques, given dietary advice and educated about bullying and anti-social behaviour at the classes at Feltham Community College.

A gang uprooted trees, overturned portable toilets and knocked down rugby posts before reversing into Feltham RFC's changing rooms and setting their stolen VW Polo alight.

The building was gutted and the club's training equipment was destroyed in the arson attack - which took place at about 6.30am.

Former members of the Feltham Boys Brigade, Scouts or Unit 3 Youth Club are invited to a reunion evening at Christ Church in Hanworth Road on Saturday September 5.

The event, which has been organised as part of the church's centenary celebrations, will take place between 7pm-10.30pm and a memorial window to the Boys Brigade will be unveiled.

A celebration of local history will be held at Feltham Library on Saturday August 8.

Members of the Feltham History Group will be giving talks to mark the third anniversary of the opening of the library in The Centre.

All are welcome between 10am and 4pm and free refreshments will be served.
