Feltham Festival brochure winner.jpgTWO budding artists from Feltham Community College will have their work seen by residents across the town after winning a design competition.

Georgia Mackey, 11, won top prize in the competition to design the front cover for this year's Feltham Festival brochure, while 12-year-old Megan Monk will have her design displayed on the back cover.

The pair were presented with certificates and prizes to mark their success at a ceremony at Feltham Library on Tuesday (January 17), which also marked the opening of this year's festival.

The brochure will now be distributed to about 8,000 homes across the west of Hounslow borough.

Georgia said: "Our teacher handed out some ideas and there was one I particularly liked and I based my design around that and added different colours and things to it."

Megan added: "I'm really proud and I was surprised to win because my teacher sent my design in - I didn't even know it had been entered."

The 140 entries, including the two winning designs are currently being exhibited at Feltham Library.

Feltham Centre manager Lorraine Eggleton, who presented the awards, said: "The judging of the entries was made very difficult by so many colourful and creative designs and we would like to thank the local schools for their support in running the competition.

"Congratulations to Georgia for her vibrant winning design for this year's brochure cover. Your design really caught the judges' eyes.

"And congratulations to Megan, our runner up, for her striking design which is on the back of the brochure."

Feltham Festival 2012 will run from February to April and will bring a range of exciting activities, exhibitions and shows to Feltham, Hanworth and Bedfont.
