Feltham court becomes domestic violence centre

Posted by Ed Saunt on Oct 29, 09 05:18 PM in Crime

Feltham Magistrates Court has been designated as a centre for dealing with domestic violence cases.

The Hanworth Road court has been granted specialist domestic violence status as it meets 12 criteria - including separate entrances and waiting facilities for victims and witnesses, specially trained advisers and dedicated staff, police and prosecutors who are experienced in dealing with domestic violence cases.

It became one of 127 such courts nationwide when it received the accreditation from Government ministers last week and will handle much of the domestic violence case load from west London.

Hounslow Council leader Councillor Peter Thompson said: "We are delighted to be awarded this accreditation by the Ministry of Justice, and want to congratulate everyone involved who worked hard to secure this for Hounslow.

"This accreditation means that victims and their families can rest assured that they will be fully supported by trained staff and support organisations from across the Hounslow court system, and that we will do all we can to ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice."

We'd like to hear from you.
