Boxing keeps Feltham teens off the streets

pcbox.JPGTeenagers from Feltham learned to box clever at a summer training camp organised by the police.

The non-contact boxing sessions were set up in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour by giving youngsters something to do during the school holidays.

The 28 participants were taught fitness and self-defence techniques, given dietary advice and educated about bullying and anti-social behaviour at the classes at Feltham Community College.

The three day summer programme was organised by police officers in addition to the weekly full contact boxing classes they run at the school every Friday night.

16-year-old Tori Chipping, who took part in the camp, said: "I enjoyed this course because it has given me confidence working with people I haven't meet before. I feel I have benefited from the fitness and the best part was the pad work inside the ring.

"I would definitely come again and will tell others about it as it gets the community together and shows we can all work together."

Anyone interested in taking up boxing can contact PC Michael Hunter on 0208 2476311 or michael.Hunter3@met.pnn.police.uk.
