Dispute over 'dangerous' tree

Posted by Ed Saunt on Jul 24, 09 01:20 PM in Local Authority

Residents in Burns Avenue, Feltham are begging for a 'dangerous' lime tree to be cut back before someone gets hurt.

Roy Wicks and his neighbours claim the huge tree is in danger of shedding its branches as a preservation method as the hot weather comes and have asked housing association Hounslow Homes to trim it.

But their requests have fallen on deaf ears and Mr Wicks fears it will take a serious injury before the housing association take any notice.

"The low branches are really dangerous and I'm worried one of the higher branches will fall and hurt someone," he said.

The tree, which is in the garden of two of the Hounslow Homes-owned properties, is also making a mess of residents' houses and cars as the sticky sap coats the surrounding street.

"We don't necessarily want it cut down," said Mr Wicks. "We are just fed up of this thing dominating the street."

A spokeswoman for Hounslow Homes said: "The Hounslow Homes tenancy agreement states that tenants should maintain their own gardens. We'll have a tree specialist to look at the tree in question and check it to see if it is dangerous."
