Not the only Number One

same-address-a.jpgA longtime Feltham resident has found himself in a tale of two houses after bungling Hounslow Council officers gave a new property on his road exactly the same address as his home.

David Renwick, of Sycamore Close, only realised something was wrong last week when his post started to go missing and a mysterious furniture delivery arrived at his house.

A quick investigation revealed a rival number one, Sycamore Close, with a similar postcode, had sprung up just a little way along his street.

He said: "The new houses are still empty but the confusion's already begun. When I realised they were numbered 1-5, like ours, I asked the developer what was going on, but he just said those were the numbers the council had given them."

Mr Renwick, who has lived in Sycamore Close for 21 years, says he is now concerned about his financial security and the possibility of identity fraud as his post and deliveries are already becoming confused with the other house.

"I've spoken to several people at the council, including planning and traffic but can't seem to get hold of whoever is responsible," he said. "They don't seem to understand that this is a matter of urgency for me."

A spokeswoman for Hounslow council said: "The council is currently looking into this matter and will be in discussions with the developers to resolve the matter as soon as possible."
