Snakey Lane Allotment holders sow seeds of success

Their latest triumph, a £10,000 grant from Hounslow Council's west area committee, was achieved with support from the Feltham Area Renewal, a project which works to improve green spaces in Feltham, Bedfont and Hanworth and tries to encourage more people to use them.

This cash has been used to improve access to the site and allotment volunteers are now working hard to complete installation of a pond and wildflower meadow. The final stage of this ambitious regeneration project will be the opening of the community plot.

Keith Hitchman, secretary of the Snakey Lane Allotment Association, said: "We're hoping to hear from local individuals or

groups who would like access to a community plot. If you'd like to get involve in a growing project, but time restraints or a physical disability would prevent this, or as a local teacher you'd like your group to have access to growing space, please send us your ideas."

Cllr John Cooper, the west area committee representative on the FAR project, said: "It's really pleasing to see the impact the Snakey Lane Allotment Association has had on the site, there is now thriving diverse
community of plot holders enjoying the benefits of producing their own food."
